About Caring With Heart

Caring With Heart is a recognized non-profit working throughout the state of Virginia and internationally in Africa. Our non-profit was founded in Virginia and utilizes partnerships with local grocers, neighborhoods, and community health departments to educate the community on the impacts of sugar and salt. The mission of the organization continues to be to provide healthier options and curb the devastating effects of cardiovascular disease.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become more evident that our communities need greater access to resources and information to assist them with making healthy lifestyle decisions. Chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension continue to plague the nation, especially in lower socioeconomic communities. It has also been proven that those who suffer from other underlying conditions, including hypertension and diabetes, are at greater risk for complications and severity should they contract the coronavirus. These communities desperately need access to food that is both nutritious and affordable, as well as an understanding as to how what we eat affects our body, and it is our goal to be that facilitator.

At the international level, Caring With Heart has also implemented educational programs and outreach in Africa to improve nutrition. It is our belief that everyone should have educational resources and tools needed to implement a healthy lifestyle.

Education

Caring With Heart provides education on the negative effects of sugar and salt through the distribution of knowledge. We do so by going to churches, community centers, and schools to conduct presentations and interviews showcasing the nutritional guides of generally consumed foods and their healthier alternatives. We hold blood pressure drives and Q & A sessions at various community events and take advantage of various social media outlets such as discussion forums, blogs and social networking sites. In the future we will we will be lauching a Youtube channel featuring recipes and exercise programs by dieticians, physicians, and activists in related fields. Let's develop a healthier community together by declaring war on sugar and salt.

Mission Statement

It is the mission, duty, and purpose of Caring With Heart to educate our community on the negative effects of sugar and salt by implementing lifelong practices to prevent, reduce and/or manage hypertension and diabetes in turn decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Vision

To incorporate dietary and nutrition education in combination with fitness to increase the health of communities across America. Facilitate the development of Western Africa's healthcare systems to ensure everyone has access to the fundamental human right of healthcare.
